Introduction

Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) is an innovative cell under Ministry of Education (MoE) at AICTE, New Delhi. In continuation of this, the college has established IKS center in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. It is established to promote interdisciplinary research on all aspects of IKS, preserve and disseminate IKS for further research and societal applications. It will actively engage in spreading the rich heritage of our country and traditional knowledge in the field of Arts and literature, Agriculture, Basic Sciences, Engineering & Technology, Architecture, Management, Economics and others.

Function of IKS Cell

    New    To integrate IKS with the academic teaching-learning, research, etc. in alignment with the vision, mission and objectives of the Indian Knowledge System Division of the Ministry of Education.

    New    To equip teachers with innovative pedagogical strategies that inspire students to cultivate a strong interest in diverse subjects and appreciate our rich cultural heritage.

    New     To create resource materials that are rich in information and practical applications to support the teaching and learning of Indian knowledge systems.

    New     To foster interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research on various aspects of Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS), preserve and disseminate a deeper understanding and appreciation of IKS for further research, and societal applications.

    New     To organize conferences, seminars, workshops, training, faculty development programmes etc. aiding in advancing the frontiers of knowledge and capacity building of stakeholders.

    New     To establish a comprehensive database of Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) through research, teaching, publication, and preservation of both ancient and contemporary knowledge for the students.

    New     To build a digital library and an e-repository of valuable resources including books, manuscripts, etc. on IKS.

Initiatives for the promotion of IKS

    New    Establishment of Language Laboratory for the promotion of traditional Indian languages, including Sanskrit, Pali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and others, which are repositories of ancient knowledge



    New    The college has implemented Unnat Bharat Abhiyan by adopting 5 villages (Pilkha, Kasoon, Bhatgaon, Patiya, and Kotyura) in the Almora district, Uttarakhand. Regular student trips are organised to impart IT and soft skill training and to instil awareness about geo-heritage protection, cleanliness and hygiene among local school students and villagers. In return our students learn about the village culture, traditional food and crafts, as well as ancient methods of preservation of water in the hills called ‘naulas’ and traditional watermills as they stay in the homestays. e.
