SPIC MACAY (Society For the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth) is a non-profit organisation of international fame established by Padam Shri awardee Dr.Kiran Seth in 1977 at IIT Delhi. The purpose of this society is to foster the beauty and value of India's rich cultural heritage among the youth of various schools and colleges across the world. Since its inception the society has been assertively persudaing the educational institutions to organise programs of Indian Classical Music, Dance, Yoga, Craft, Painting, Talks and Workshops on variety of art forms which are unfortunately seeing a constant decline in popular cultural space. The impact of this movement has been immense on youth and as a result it has opened its Chapters in over 300 Centres all over the World. RLAC appreciates such Noble cause and takes pride to be associated with SPIC MACAY for so many years. The RLAC Chapter is majorly run by the student coordinators and volunteers who time to time visit the main branch of SPIC MACAY to participate in the meetings. It has been motivational in order to develop sensibilities to celebrate and enrich our most percious cultural arts forms found in the remotest area of this country and to bring it out of the closet so that such forms get recognition in today's mordernised society. Here at RLAC, we have been fortunate enough to have luminaries like Lt. Ustaad Bismillah Khan, Ustaad Sultan Khan, PT. Bhajan Sopori, PT. Rajan and Sajan Mishra, Ustaad Kamal Sabri,Dr. Ashwini Bhide Deshpande and Abahy Sopori. We have also organised Madhubani paining workshop under the guidance of President Awardee Smt.Ambika Devi. Such events also help the students to learn and display their organising skills.
